Crisfield is a city in Somerset County, Maryland, United States, located on the Tangier Sound, an arm of the Chesapeake Bay. The population was 2,726 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. Crisfield has the distinction of being the southernmost incorporated city in Maryland.
The site of today's Crisfield was initially a small fishing village called Annemessex Neck. During European colonization, it was renamed Somers Cove, after Benjamin Summers. When the business potential for seafood was discovered, John W. Crisfield decided to bring the Pennsylvania Railroad to Crisfield, and the quiet fishing town grew. Crisfield is now known as the "Seafood Capital of the World".The city's success was so great that the train soot and oyster shells prompted the extension of the city's land into the marshes. City residents often claim that the downtown area is literally built atop oyster shells.

Picnic in Muskrat Park with its lovely view of the harbor, or explore St. Mary's Square and Museum on the "Green"...the site where the very first settlers built their log cabins in the late 1600s. You'll enjoy the antique and art galleries, the decoy carvers' workshops, the gift, craft, and fashion boutiques. Even the two hardware stores have some surprises.
If it's warm when you get there, cool off with a hand-dipped ice cream cone. If you arrive with the geese in the cool weather, warm up with something from the bar at the local hangout of St. Michaels' watermen. And when hunger sets in, any of several really fine restaurants will serve up extraordinary eastern shore delicacies.
Incidentally, we fooled the British by hanging lanters in the tallest
trees above the town to confuse Royal Navy gunners in their predawn
bombardment of St. Michaels' ships and shipyards...a source of great
irritation to the British Admiralty in that War. Today, however, we
welcome all visitors by land or sea including British ones without
cannons.
ANNAPOLIS -- Established in 1649, Annapolis is a scenic town -- and it virtually brims over with history. Most of the well-preserved older part was built in the mid-18th century. We recommend that you contemplate at least a two-night stay, beginning with visits to the Government House (the governor's home), 18th-century Hammond-Harwood House (widely thought of as one of the very finest remaining colonial houses, this Georgian-style mansion is an complete must for anyone
interested in historic homes) and the Maryland State House (constructed in 1772, it's the oldest still in use in the U.S. and has the largest wooden dome in the country). Annapolis is conceivably best known for the U.S. Naval Academy. A tour

(the 18th-century estate of the Maryland governor who signed the
Declarationof Independence -- the restoration of the garden has been a
exceptionally impressive feat), the Reynolds Tavern and old St. Ann's
Church.
The Annapolis Hall of Records houses memorabilia belonging to Herbert
Frisbee, the African-American explorer who accompanied Adm. Robert
Peary to the North Pole. Contemplate also the Banneker-Douglass Museum
