About Agadir
In 1505 the tiny village of Agadir made its first mark on history. The Portuguese set up a trading post there, defended by the Santa Cruz fortress on Cap de Gue. Although a profitable endeavor, their stay was brief, as in 1541 they were ejected by the founder of the Saadian dynasty. A golden age then followed for Agadir, with ships arriving every day to take on cargos of sugar cane, dates, wax skins, oils, spices and gold. However, over the years Agadir went into decline and in 1960 it was destroyed by an earthquake. Today, Agadir has been reborn as a holiday capital. Constructed away from high risk areas using anti-seismic techniques, Agadir is an engaging town. The dormant white of its sculptural buildings is contrasted by the multi-colored flowers that adorn its tranquil gardens. Vacationers drink in the sea air, sitting at tables on the cafe terraces or strolling around the bazaars. While a little further away there is all the bustling activity surrounding the most important fishing port in Morocco, with its fleet of spruce trawlers bobbing up and down on the Atlantic swell.

About Arrecife
Lanzarote is perhaps the most unique among the Canary Islands, astounding visitors with its amazing landscapes. Due to a massive volcanic eruption in 1730 that lasted for six years, one third of the island was covered by a sea of lava. In 1824, a new volcano thrust out of the earth's crust and once again molten lava poured over a good part of Lanzarote, leaving a lunar landscape of more than a hundred craters, lava fields, and layers of cinders and pebbles. Dromedaries found here add to this bizarre scenery. Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, is situated on the island's eastern coast. Blackened lava and yellow sands provide a dramatic backdrop. Home to the archipelago's largest fishing fleet, the harbor is packed with boats. While Arrecife itself has little to offer beyond a modern art museum, it provides an excellent starting point for exploration into the fascinating interior. Especially a trip to the Fire Mountains should not be missed.
Arrecife Attractions
It is impossible to mention Lanzarote without mentioning at the same time the island’s most famous son, Cesar Manrique. As an artist and architect, he sought to construct buildings as extended natural forms. He began to paint abstract canvases, which made their way to the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Some of his masterworks on Lanzarote include the Cactus Garden and Los Jameos del Agua, where within the grotto’s lava formations Manrique incorporated a concert cave, a restaurant and a bar. His home, donated to the people of Lanzarote, is now known as the Fundacion Cesar Manrique. The living room has been transformed into a gallery displaying a private collection of his works.
Arrecife Activities
Guanapay Castle - The remains of this castle, built in the 16th century, stand on the edge of a volcano. From the summit, there is a vast panorama including Teguise, Lanzarote's former capital, and Graciosa Island on the northern horizon.

About Cape Town
Cape Town's name originated from the term 'Cape of Good Hope' when Bartholomew Diaz and other seafarers looked forward to the sight of Table Mountain, like an inn that promised hospitality and prosperity. The presence of Table Mountain in all its splendour still invokes this kind of emotion. Cape Town is steeped in a rich history and is a cultural melting pot with its diverse and vibrant character being derived from Khoisan and other African tribes from the North, and Indonesian, French, Dutch, British and German settlers. Bustling and beautiful, the cosmopolitan nature of Cape Town means that one never tires of the multitude of experiences it has to offer.
Cape Town Activities
Table Mountain is one of South Africa's greatest landmarks and towers 1,086m above the City of Cape Town.
One of the most significant and symbolically charged pieces of land in South Africa, Robben Island guards the entrance to Table Bay. The name hails from the Dutch word for seals, The island was home to Nelson Mandela who was imprisoned there along with other political prisoners. Now a living museum, the island and its ghosts are visited voluntarily. As a place of history, education and insight into South Africa’s past, this is an essential excursion. The return boat trip (half an hour each way) to this World Heritage Site and a guided tour around the museum by an ex-inmate is an experience never to miss.
The Kirstenbosch Estate covers 528 hectares, 36 hectares make up the central landscaped garden on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, it is home to more than 8 500 indigenous plant species, and is known as one of the Seven Magnificent Botanical Gardens of the world.
In 1982 two breeding pairs of African penguins (once known as Jackass penguins thanks to the braying sound they make) moved into prime beachfront estate at Boulders beach between Simonstown and Cape Point. Today there are over 3 000 of these birds living here and the area is now a National Park. Penguins can be viewed up close as they frolic in the water and waddle on land. Sometimes it's hard to tell who is watching who. You're likely to see penguin pairs strolling along the boardwalks and in the park. This is the one place in the world you will be able to swim and sunbathe with penguins.

About Mossel Bay
Situated halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, beautiful Mossel Bay is a coastal village and harbour of the World Famous Garden Route. This popular holiday town is surrounded by a sunbathed peninsula and the refreshing waters of the Indian Ocean. It is a busy summer destination as well as an ideal winter retreat. It is blessed with a mild climate all-year round but its most important feature is its status as the historical capital of the Garden Route.
Well-traveled pleasure boats dock regularly as well as other international seafarers using the modern docking facilities. Mossel Bay is a rapidly growing tourist destination as more and more travelers are discovering the Jewel of the Cape Garden Route.
Mossel Bay Attractions
Mossel Bay's main attraction is the Bartholomeu Dias Museum Complex. It comprises most of the surviving old buildings, the spring from which Dias replenished his fresh water supply and the imposing post office tree. This huge milkwood tree served passing sea captains as a convenient message center in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Visitors still can deposit letters here in a small postbox next to the tree, as long as it is nothing urgent.
Steam Train Yard
The last remaining iron giants of the steam train are housed, refurbished and maintained at Voorbaai, a ten-minute drive from Mossel Bay. The present number is between 20 to 30 locomotives ranging from the mighty Garrants to GMANs and is a great place to visit for steam train enthusiasts.
Golf
The 18-hole Mossel Bay Golf Club is about a 10 minute drive from the port. Redesigned by Robert Grimsdell in 1957, the course is situated on high ground with the sea visible from every tee.

About Richard's Bay
Situated on KwaZulu-Natal's fertile south coast, Richards Bay started out as a holiday town and has developed into a major port. It is situated on a lagoon in the Mhathuze river and its potential as a great natural harbour were confirmed in 1897 after a detailed survey was carried out. Originally, the lagoon provided a home for a vast population of aquatic birds, attracted to the area by a rich supply of fish. Crocodiles, sharks and hippos frequented the lagoon, as did hunters and fisherman in search of trophies.
Richard's Bay Attractions
Richards Bay is also known for being the point where the world’s most famous hippo, Huberta began her 2500km trek across the country traveling down the East Coast sometime in 1928. Huberta was a fascinating creature who, evidently, was scared of very little: she would cross roads, highways, railroad tracks, enter cities and city parks without a care in the world. The world loved her and followed her journey even allowing her to ruin golf courses and gardens. She had a phalanx of journalists tracking her every move and feeding her fruits and sugar cane to keep her energized. She is now on display in Kaffrarian Museum in King William’s town.

About Fujairah
Fujairah, one of the seven emirates that constitute the United Arab Emirates, lies on the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, alongside the Indian Ocean and thus outside the Gulf. With a stunning setting of wide sandy beaches set against a backdrop of the rugged Haijar Mountains, Fujairah is an emirate of contrasts, attracting slowly a growing number of visitors, especially those in search of a different kind of "sun, sea and sand" vacation. Thanks to its strategic location at the crossroads between east and west, Fujairah experienced considerable development in recent years. Today, the emirate enjoys a bustling economy due to its natural resources, strong industrial and commercial base, as well as a thriving sea port and free trade zone. International investments are now seeing the building of luxury hotels and associated tourism facilities. Careful planning ensures the preservation and protection of the town's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. Despite several new luxury hotels and resorts along the picturesque coastline, the charm and tranquility, which characterized the town in times gone by, remain largely unchanged.

About Doha
A rocky, low-lying desert peninsula reaching into the Gulf, Qatar is a hard-scrabble land that begs for water. But under the surface, there´s wealth aplenty in enormous oil and natural gas fields. Qatar´s rulers are the immensely powerful and numerous Al Thani family, who arrived from Central Arabia in the 1700´s.
Doha Activities
Al-Corniche - The highlight of Doha is unquestionably the Corniche. Doha Bay was carefully constructed with landfill to make an attractive crescent, along which runs a charming area of shaded footpaths, cycling tracks, the Al-Bandar restaurant complex, the famous Pearl Monument, moored dhows, a park and enchanting views.
Heritage House - Formerly an ethnographic museum, this restored Heritage Museum, was built in 1935 and offers the best view of the badghir (wind tower). It is no longer officially open to the public, however, the friendly Qatari employees of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture who now occupy the building are sure to let you in, if you express an interest.
Doha Fort - Built during the Turkish occupation in the 19th century, the interior of this fort consists of a large, paved courtyard, which acts as an impromptu forum for local sheyba (old men) to chew over the day's problems. The exhibits are somewhat neglected, but while Qatar National Museum remains closed for renovation, this is the only opportunity for visitors to view a wide range of traditional Qatari activities, such as weaving, woodcarving, modern paintings and other local crafts.

One of the most important architectural landmarks is the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. This is arguably one of the most important architectural treasures of contemporary UAE society—and one of the most opulent in the world. It was initiated by the late president of the United Arab Emirates, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, fondly thought of as the father of the UAE.
Its design and construction reportedly 'unites the world', using artisans and materials from many countries including Italy, Germany, Morocco, India, Turkey, Iran, China, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Greece and of course the United Arab Emirates. More than 3,000 workers and 38 renowned contracting companies took part in the construction of the mosque. Natural materials were chosen for much of its design and construction due to their long-lasting qualities, including marble, stone, gold, semi-precious stones, crystals and ceramics. Construction began on 5 November 1996. The maximum capacity is approximately 41,000 people and the overall structure is 22,412 square metres, the internal prayer halls were initially opened in December 2007.
As one of the most visited buildings in the UAE, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center was established to manage the day-to-day operations, as a place of worship and Friday gathering and as a centre of learning and discovery through its education and visitor programs.

About Al Khasab
The small town of Khasab is situated on the northern tip of Oman's Musandem Peninsula, separated from the mainland by the United Arab Emirates. The striking scenery of this rarely visited peninsula is marked by dramatic mountain ranges. This region along the Strait of Hormuz is responsible for approximately 25 percent of the world's oil production. During the 16th century, the Portuguese settled here, leaving behind small fortresses, which were taken over by the Persians.

About Marmagoa
Mormugao (pronounced Marmagoa) is the main port facility of Goa located at the tip of a peninsula jutting out into the Arabian Sea. It is a 45-minute drive to Panjim. Close to Mormugao is the small town of Vasco da Gama. It serves as terminus for the railway line into Goa. The former Portuguese enclave of Goa is one of India's gems with attractions that include the magnificent Portuguese cathedrals of Old Goa, palm-fringed beaches and some of the best seafood in India. Over the centuries, Goa became well known as a great source for spices and an important link in the Arabian trade routes. While spices and silks, porcelains and pearls were passing in and out of Goa's harbors, its lands were being settled by Catholic priests. Among them was St. Francis Xavier, who left a lasting influence on this small, rich region.
Marmagoa Activities
Housed in the convent at the back of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Old Goa, the Archaeological Museum features a collection of artifacts from the animist cult that flourished in this part of India centuries ago. Also on display are many portraits of the Portuguese viceroys, which offer an interesting study in the evolution of court dress.
Goa is well known for its beaches; Europeans have been flocking here since the early 1960s. The best beaches and resorts are at least six miles away.

About Galle
Built by the Dutch beginning in 1663, the 36-hectare Fort occupies most of the promontory that forms the older part of Galle. Described by the notoriously hard-to-please Paul Theroux as being ‘garlanded with red hibiscus and smelling of the palm-scented ocean, ’ the Fort is an amazing collection of structures and culture dating back through the centuries. Just wandering the streets at random yields one architectural surprise after another. And be sure to take in the dramatic views of town and ocean from the encircling walls. Unesco has recognized Fort as a World Heritage Site.

About Langkawi Palau
The Langkawi island group, in the western part of Malaysia, is unspoiled and barely inhabited. The local population numbers only 20,000. The natural splendor of the islands will command your attention. The beaches are glorious and there is even a beach composed entirely of black sand - an amazing sight.
Langkawi Palau Activities
It is no surprise that such a beautiful island would have world class snorkeling and diving. The 50 small islands that surround Langkawi, including Ko Lipe, Ko Adang, and Ko Tarutao, are world famous for their great coral reefs, crystal clear water, and plethora of amazing marine life. It is not at all uncommon for underwater explorers to have frequent run-ins with dolphins, whale sharks, turtles and manta rays. All of this can of course be seen from the surface while snorkeling, if diving is too extreme.

About Penang
Gorgeous beaches. Abundant culture. Rich history. Excellent food. Truly, there is more to see and experience in the "Pearl of the Orient" than one person can possibly handle, but we still think you'll like it. One of the most multicultural cities in all of Asia, Penang is like a concentrated version of the entire continent, while at the same time it maintains an identity all its own.
Penang Attractions
Penang invites you to get lost (figuratively) in the architectural wonderland of George Town, which doubles as the state's capital city and its Chinese quarter. From there, the massive and opulent Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is truly something to marvel over. Beach-lovers simply have to kick it for an hour or two on one of the many north coast beaches. And make sure you don't leave without checking out Malaysia's largest Buddhist temple. Finally, if you still have any energy left, there are always the monkey-ridden, 70-acre Botanical Gardens.

As you wander down twisting alleys and narrow streets, you´ll find much of the "Old Asia".

About Singapore
At first glance, this diamond-shaped island just off the coast of Malaysia gleams with modernism and commercialism, making it seem more Western than Eastern. But as you continue to discover the city-state, you'll uncover the eclectic mix of cultures, religions, ancient treasures and British colonial impressions that give rise to a unique Singaporean identity. The cultural fusion is perhaps best expressed in Singapore's unofficial language, Singlish, a unique patois of English, Chinese and Malay.
Singapore Attractions
Thian Hock Keng, the "Temple of Heavenly Bliss," is one of the oldest Chinese temples in Singapore. What was originally a makeshift altar became a full-blown temple in 1841, and it still shines today with red and black lacquer and gold gilt. The shrine honors Ma Po Cho, the Patron Goddess of Sailors, but it also recognizes the Protector of Life, the God of War, the Goddess of Mercy and the Sun and Moon Gods through intricate carvings and statues.
