About St. John Island
Beautiful St John is the smallest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands. It covers an area of only 28 square miles, two-thirds of which is devoted to the Virgin Islands National Park. Although the history of the island is long and interesting, the features that make St John so special are its magnificent beaches (Trunk Bay is considered to be one of the ten most beautiful in the world) and its underwater snorkel trail.
St. John Island Attractions
There are tours of the National Park by safari bus or jeep, and you'll find the drivers take a special pride in the beauty of St. John. One well known taxi personality is Miss Lucy Smith, her wagon can be identified by cow's horns entwined with flowers on the hood. (Due to her Popularity you must Book with her by reservation). There is a standard rate for all tours, with stops at key observation points. Island guides will charm you with ancient folklore and authentic knowledge of the island. You'll also see glimpses of abandoned 18th-century sugar plantations, especially along the Reef Bay trail. And you can even visit one -- Estate Annaberg.
Two outstanding scenic destinations highlight this Caribbean call. First, "The Baths." This natural wonder - unique in all the Caribbean - consists of giant boulder which tumble across the landscape and atop one another to form labyrinthine caves and clear, salt-water pools that are lit by the rays of the sun. Second is Gorda Sound, a protected anchorage, known the world over by seasoned yachtsmen. Virgin Gorda, Itself, is a rustic cluster of small farms with about 1,000 inhabitants.

The Baths represent the stellar natural attraction of the British Virgin Islands, with exotic pools and grottos formed by giant boulders strewn across sand beaches. Explorers will revel in the hidden rooms with shafts of light, snorkelers in the coral ledges and caves, sunbathers/ swimmers in the white sand beaches adding to the sparkling clarity of the water. Be careful of the surge when the north swell is running but enjoy the crashing surf on the boulders!
Comprising one of the southern islands of the BVI archipelago, Norman Island lies close to the international boundary line separating the British Virgin Islands from the US Virgin Islands. Legend plays a large part in the history of Norman Island with tales of pirates and treasure caves, although the role of the island as the model for the epic "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson is perhaps the most famous legend of all. While the island is now uninhabited, farmers have in the past reared cattle there and today the Caves are one of the most popular tourist attractions in the islands.

The Bight is one of the most protected anchorages in the region although Soldier Bay, Benures Bay and Money Bay provide secluded anchorages given the right conditions. Sandy Ground is a village beach on the island of Anguilla, located in the British West Indies. It benefits from a tropical climate and the warm Caribbean waters and is popular with tourists looking for a relaxing beach holiday. Sandy Ground is known by its long curved white sandy beach set against the backdrop of high cliff and a disused salt pond. It is the main port for the small island of Anguilla and its beach is popular with boat racing, beach bars, barbecues and dancing. The island of Anguilla is easy to explore with one main road running through the middle and plenty of beaches and bays to be discovered. The romantic Little Bay offers secluded coves, Junk’s Hole is home to the notorious Palm Grove barbeque, Island Harbour boasts bright coloured working fishing boats and the sands of Meads Bay host hotels for the elegant dining experience. At sunset, head to Crocus Bay and the coral cliffs for the best location on the island to watch the day’s end.
You can easily explore all of Gustavia during a two-hour stroll. Some shops close from noon to 3 or 4, so plan lunch accordingly, but stores stay open past 7 in the evening. Parking in Gustavia is a challenge, especially during vacation times. A good spot to park is rue de la République, alongside the catamarans, yachts, and sailboats.
