The popularity of Portugal and Spain’s Douro Valley cannot be ignored—that’s why we are pleased to debut our newest Douro River ship, the spectacular AmaDouro, in 2019. Like our other ships, the AmaDouro will feature spacious, elegantly appointed staterooms, most of which will include balconies to take in views of the breathtaking hills and terraced vineyards along the river. Staterooms will also include Entertainment-On-Demand, featuring free high-speed Internet access, unlimited Wi-Fi, movies, music and English language TV stations; climate-controlled air conditioning; and an in-room safe. Currently being designed, the AmaDouro’s Panoramic Lounge will be a stylish and inviting space for a drink and our nightly entertainment. The ship also features a massage room, fitness room, Sun Deck swimming pool and a gift shop, as well as the culinary delights of the Main Restaurant, where you’ll be able to sample the region’s famous Port wine.

Porto is one of the last undiscovered European metropolises,but is increasing in popularity.
This is an ancient port steeped in history and tradition. It is a highly atmospheric place that has become known for its monuments by renowned architects (Gustave Eiffel's Dona Maria Bridge, Nicolau Nasoni's Clerigos Tower, Rem Koolhaas' Casa da Musica, or Siza Vieira's Serralves Museum),
Backed by the Serra do Marao mountains and overlooking the wide valley of the River Douro, the peaceful town of Peso da Regua is the official centre of the Port wine growing region. From here, barrels of wine were traditionally transported to Vila Nova de Gaia in the past using wooden sailing ships called rabelos. Today, the journey is made by road using specially-adapted tankers.
Regua Activities
Regua is the center for Port wine production. Visit a local inn for wine tasting and a lecture on Port wine.
Relax for an evening at Solar da Rede, a beautifully restored 18th-century "pousada" manor house located high above the river.

Overlooked by mountains on all sides, and on a placid bend in the Rio Douro, it's a curious spot - on one hand, a long-abandoned railway line and a row of elderly cottages; on the other, a sparkling quayside with huge pontoons to accommodate the large Douro cruisers which disgorge passengers for a quick souvenir hunt. A few places soak up any passing trade, including the Bago d'Ouro, an upmarket deli and restaurant with some simple river-facing rooms available. In the end, it's the drive here, from north or south, that really warrants the trip, through beautifully sculpted Douro terraces of olives and vines, with sweeping views across the hills and into the river gorge.
