The Great South West Walk is a 250-kilometre (160 mi) walking track that begins at the Visitor Information Centre, Portland. Designed as a long distance walking track, it is also ideal for short walks and day walks. The walk travels though forests, river gorges, cliff tops and sublime bays. Established in 1981 the walk is administered, maintained and promoted by 'The Friends of the Great South West Walk Inc', a wholly volunteer organisation, in partnership with Parks Victoria.

One of the more entrancing sights in Broome is the Staircase to the Moon. On a cloudless night you can see the full moon reflected in the rippling mus flats, which creates a beautiful golden stairway effect. This effect is most dramatic a few days after the full moon, when the sky has a chance to darken before the moon rises.
Kuri Bay is a remote coastal bay in the far north of Western Australia in the Kimberley region, about 370 km (230 mi) north of Broome. It is a designated point on the Western Australian Forecast Areas, utilised by the Bureau of Meteorology as a boundary for the North Kimberley Coast area from the West Kimberley Coast.
The closest main town is Derby, 223 km (139 mi) southwest of the bay. The bay opens directly into the Indian Ocean, and Augustus Island is located just off-shore from the bay. The bay is part of the Prince Regent National Park and the Kunmunya Aboriginal Reserve.

It is the home to Australia's first cultured pearl farm and is named after the company's first principal, Tokuichi Kuribayashi (1896–1982). The Japanese-American-Australian company commenced operations in 1956 following the Western Australian Government repealing the Pearling Act that prohibited the production, sale and possession of cultured pearls.
By 1973 the Kuri Bay operation was producing 60% of the world's large white South Sea pearls.[3] Paspaley, the biggest supplier of South Sea pearls in the world, has one of their largest and most well-known pearl farms located at Kuri Bay.

The City of Puerto Princesa in Palawan, Philippines is located 306 nautical miles southwest of Manila, 205 nautical miles from Panay and about 250 nautical miles from Zamboanga. Its western side faces the South China Sea while in its eastern coast lays the Sulu Sea.
