Papeete Attractions
Tahara Hill and Matavai Bay - The perfect viewpoint of the bay where Lt. William Bligh's HMS Bounty anchored in the novel, "Mutiny on the Bounty."Point Venus - This lighthouse now stands where James Cook and the scientists of his expedition observed the Transit of Venus in 1769.Gauguin Museum - This museum chronicles the French artist's life in Polynesia and includes two sketches and a sculpture.

Moorea´s steep, green velvety peaks are visible from Papeete, 12 miles away. At the base of the mountains are reef-protected turquoise lagoons. To savor Moorea´s breath-taking beauty, find a deserted beach or circle the island by car or bike past quaint villages and ancient temples.
Moorea Attractions
There are many reasons for Moorea's popularity with tourists. In addition to its high and scenically dramatic interior mountains, Moorea is unique among the Society Islands in having magnificent expanses of both white and black sand beaches. It is no stretch to say that the beaches of Moorea Island can be rated among the worlds finest.
This mountainous island but with soft shapes has magnificent indented bays and some lovely white sand beaches. The islands dotted around the lagoons are given over to growing different types of melons and there is a varied and abundant supply of fruit and vegetables from these fertile soils.
Huahine Attractions
Marae Manunu - One of Polynesia's most significant cultural sites, the open-air marae features a large sacred stone that is approximately 100 feet long. Ancient Fish Traps - See a traditional form of fishing using 400-year-old Polynesian stone fish traps, still in use today. Belvedere Lookout - Panoramic views of the island, Maroe Bay and the lagoon.
The romance of old Polynesia is alive in Rarotonga, largest of the Cook Islands. Relax on its white sand beaches or explore the lush beauty of its tropical interior. Rarotonga´s gentle people remain close to their legends, which give their weaving and woodcarving a special dimension.
Rarotonga Attractions
One of the main attractions of Rarotonga is that it is a real place, not a manufactured destination point for tourists. Real people live there and wrestle with all the problems that tiny countries face trying to cope with the modern world of instant communications and jet travel. It is an idyllic place for travellers seeking lost horizons and for those interested in the ways of Polynesia.
Pago Pago, with its soaring green mountains, sparkling water-falls, and superb beaches, is one of the South Pacific´s most spectacular deepwater ports. Relax on a white-sand beach that stretches on for miles, or go shopping in Fagatogo, the colorful downtown area.
Pago Pago Attractions
Fagatogo - Pago Pago's downtown is not only the island's business district but also the home of the territorial government.
Government House - Originally, the headquarters of the U.S. Naval Chief during World War II. Now home of the Territorial Governor of American Samoa.
Jean P. Haydon Museum - This museum recounts the history of Samoa and exhibits Samoan art and artifacts.
This is the captial of Upolu, the most developed and populous of Western Samoa´s nine islands. Lush and volcanic, the nine islands of Samoa constitute a reef-fringed oasis in the vast Pacific Ocean. One of Apia's greatest attractions is a hotel "Aggie Gray's", immortalized by Michener and frequented by Robert Louis Stevenson, Marlon Brando and Gary Cooper. Other worthy elements include rain forests, waterfalls, craters, blowholes, beaches, and the ever-present fa'a Samoa (the Samoan Way).
Apia Attractions
Visit Aggie Grey´s Hotel and sightsee from Falefa Falls to Robert Louis Stevenson´s former home at Vailima.
Suva is the capital of Fiji and is a beautiful harbour city built on a peninsula reaching out into the sea. Its tall modern buildings are beautifully balanced by rich traditional colonial architecture.
Suva Attractions
Throughout the city are colourful flowering gardens and waving palm trees and on Sundays it's well worth attending church to hear the choral singing which is magnificent. Most churches have services in English, but none compare with the 1,000 strong Fijian service at Centenary Methodist Church on Stewart Street.
Suva Activities
Suva has dozens of duty-free shops with cameras, stereos, and perfumes at attractive prices. Travel out of town and visit Orchid Island and the Colo-I-Suva forest park - both are resplendent with tropical flora and fauna.
With a capital whose name translates as 'Abode of Love', there has to be something going on in the Friendly Islands that we don't know about. Most Tongans are warm and welcoming, but it's difficult to see how they could be otherwise when home is a series of lush Pacific islands, bordered by unbelievable beaches, surrounded by coral reefs, basking under a tropical sun. That's hard to beat.
Nuku'alofa Attractions
The most unique attraction is the Royal Palace in the heart of downtown. Although not open to the public, you get a good view from the waterfront of the colonial wooden building which was built in 1867.
Another attraction is the Royal Tombs, set in a manicured park which is closed to the public though visible through the fence.
If you want to get close to Royalty, attend the Centenary Church on Sunday - this is where the King and Queen worship.
