More than half of Zurich's 41 museums are free, from the wide-ranging Swiss National Museum, with treaures from prehistory to the present, to the tightly focused Beyer Museum of Time and the Museum Strauhof, strong on James Joyce artifacts and memorabilia. Among the most ancient and charming byways in this part of town are Neumarkt, Rindermarkt, and Predigergasse--narrow streets with building, some of them more than 700 years old, housing galleries and small shops brimming with stylish jewelry, clothing, crafts, works of art, and books. Augustinergasse, lines with 17th- and 18th- century houses, curves up to St. Peter's, the city's oldest parish church, also notable for having the largest clock face in Europe. Without doubt one of the prettiest towns in Switzerland, Lucerne lies in the heart of the country on the northern end of the famous lake of Lucerne, the Vierwaldstätter See. Dotted throughout with many Renaissance and Baroque fountains, colourful paintings on the gables and commanded by the exquisite wooden bridge, the Kapellbrücke and Wasserturm, the 13th century octagonal water tower, Lucerne's character is pure charm.

Breisach's most prominent landmark is the Cathedral of St. Stephanus. Visible from any part of the city, this landmark towers prominently high above the Rhine.

The old streets of "Petit France" with wooden houses and picturesque canals seem to make time stand still. Ludwigshafen is your gateway to a choice of three excursions. Visit Heidelberg, the perfectly preserved medieval city nestled in the Neckar River Valley along Germany’s Castle Road. Discover the iconic red sandstone Heidelberg Castle and Great Vat, an 18th-century 49,000-gallon wine cask. For a more active adventure while in Heidelberg, join a guided hike up the Philosopher's Path, aptly named during the Romantic Period, and be rewarded with panoramic views of the city. Following the course of the Moselle river for more than 100 miles is the beautiful Moselle Valley. The prettiest town in this popular wine-producing region, Cochem occupies the site of one of the valley´s earliest settlements. The medieval-style Reichsburh Castle, which dominates the town from atop a hill, is worth seeing, as is the Old Town with its cobblestone streets and halftimbered houses.

A favorite respite amid the splendor of the Moselle Valley, Cochem offers an idyllic setting amid vine-clad hills, and a neo-Gothic castle. The little town is graced by three fortified gates, quaint narrow alleys and half-timbered houses. Visit Reichsburg Castle, perched high above the town. Originally built in the 11th century, the castle was destroyed by French soldiers in 1689 and reconstructed in the 19th century.
A well known wine growing centre situated on the Mosel River. In the centre is the Market surrounded by color-washed half-timbered houses and the remains of medieval walls including the Ender Gate built in 1332. The well-restored castle which looms above the town was severely damaged in 1689 during the "Orleans War" of 1688-97.
This 2,000-year-old city at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers is the cultural and business center of the Middle Rhine region. History buffs can explore the Neoclassical Residence Schloss, the Prince Elector´s palace; the Deusches Eck, a settlement founded by the German Order of Knights in 1216; and Ehrenbreitstein, the oldest fortress in Europe.

As you walk the cobblestone streets of the Old City, retrace the steps of the brilliant scholar Erasmus of Rotterdam. Visit the Museum of Fine Arts, where you´ll see the paintings of Picasso, Dali, Kandinsky, and Mondrian, among others. 
This European town on the Rhine gave the Breisgau region its name. St. Stephan's cathedral on the high basalt cliffs and the Rhine gateway with museum hark back to the time when the noble Staufer family built the fortress to defend the town. The Badischer Winzerkeller is Europe's biggest producer-seller of wine. Also a centre for many important sekt producers. 
Following the course of the Moselle river for more than 100 miles is the beautiful Moselle Valley. The prettiest town in this popular wine-producing region, Cochem occupies the site of one of the valley´s earliest settlements. The medieval-style Reichsburh Castle, which dominates the town from atop a hill, is worth seeing, as is the Old Town with its cobblestone streets and halftimbered houses. 
A well known wine growing centre situated on the Mosel River. In the centre is the Market surrounded by color-washed half-timbered houses and the remains of medieval walls including the Ender Gate built in 1332. The well-restored castle which looms above the town was severely damaged in 1689 during the "Orleans War" of 1688-97. 
This 2,000-year-old city at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers is the cultural and business center of the Middle Rhine region. History buffs can explore the Neoclassical Residence Schloss, the Prince Elector´s palace; the Deusches Eck, a settlement founded by the German Order of Knights in 1216; and Ehrenbreitstein, the oldest fortress in Europe. 
Dusseldorf is the lively provincial capital and the centre of the Rhineland. It is home to the seat of government and the Knigsallee, one of the most beautiful German shopping avenues. The enchanting Altstadt (Old Town) is known as the world's longest bar! 
Immortalized in the World War II book and film, "A Bridge Too Far," Arnhem is known for its beautiful parks and gardens. Stroll the charming pedestrian mall within walking distance of the ship. The Krller-Mller museum in nearby De Hoge Veluwe National Park offers a magnificent art collection of 280 Van Gogh paintings and drawings, among other priceless works by late 19th and early 20th century artists. 
A cosmopolitan city, Antwerp is one of the world's major seaports. Its unique atmosphere is derived from the contrast between commitment to commerce and love of the arts. The old city area is filled with narrow, winding streets and historic buildings. Here stands the Cathedral of Notre Dame, one of Belgium's finest and largest gothic buildings as well as the Grand Palace. Antwerp was also home to 17th-century painter Peter Paul Rubens. Rubens' works may be seen in the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, in the Cathedral of Our Lady, and in many other Antwerp churches such as the Church of St. James, where the painter is buried. 
A center of European commerce since the 15th century, Amsterdam is a lively city of canals, museums and entertainment. Perhaps you'll choose to explore this Dutch capital by canal boat. Visit the Anne Frank House and the Rijksmseum, with its collections of Flemish masterpieces.
