Lysekil borders to the municipalities of: Sotenas (in north-west), Munkedal (north) and Uddevalla (east). The town Lysekil is located on the southern tip of the municipality. It lays by the Kattegatt strait. Due to its geographical location, the industry has always been dominated by fishing, which also shows on its coat of arms. Lysekil was mainly known as a bathing location in Sweden in the 19th century, due to its popular bathing house dating from 1847.
Lysekil Attractions
In Lysekil, you can do quite a lot as a tourist in the summer. You can visit Havets Hus, the house of the ocean, which is an aquatic museum that has most of the different ocean animals and plants living around the coast. Oslo promotes itself as an outdoors city where the people are friendly and the air and water are clean. It also unashamedly bills itself as Scandinavia's top destination and proudly boasts that its summer climate 'outwarms' all its rivals from home and abroad. In fact its 'niceness' is perhaps the most lasting impression that most visitors take home with them. It's not spectacular and there are other places in Norway that are more exciting, but Oslo is free from the very things that makes staying in most capital cities tedious. It's compact but not too small, it's old but not in decay, it's expensive but there are ways around it and it's welcoming without being in your face. So if you've saved your pennies and want to see a slice of Scandinavian beauty, pack your bags, head to Oslo and enjoy... everyone does.
Oslo Attractions
For a spectacular view of the city and the fjord, visit Akershus Castle. Sitting on a cliff, this fortress was originally built in 1300. The present structure dates mainly from the 17th century and features quaint buildings and beautiful grounds.

Visit the Royal Palace, current residence of the Royal Family.
Take the winding road of Holmenkollen Hill where you'll see charming residences and impressive views. At the top, you'll see the world-famous ski-jumping area Hollmenkollen, built for the 1952 Olympics.
Visit the Viking Ship Museum and see the incredible artisanship of all the beautiful Viking long ships.
This graceful city, located at the mouth of the Elbe on the North Sea, is one of Europes busiest ports. Enjoy its stunning architecture, museums, and theaters. Discover the shopping arcades and outdoor cafes of the Inner Alster. Or stroll through the lavish parks and gardens of the Outer Alster.
Hamburg Attractions
Visit the Rathaus; the 14th-century houses of Deichstrasse; and St. Petri, Hamburgs oldest church.
Hamburg Activities
In Max Liebermann's Garden you'll find Liebermann's later work - Paintings, pastels and drawings from his summer residence at Berlin's Wannsee lake.
Miniature Wonderland is one of the biggest mock-up railways of the world! Experience a great landscape with houses and figures, cars and trees, hills and valleys, night and day and, of course, lots and lots of tracks and trains.

Within the walls of the Hamburg Dungeon lie more than 1,000 years of gruesomely authentic history vividly brought back to life... and death.
Hamburg's city centre offers more than just shopping; the streets are peppered with historical shop, trading and office buildings and you can also marvel at the imposing town hall.
The five main churches of the Hanseatic city form Hamburg's skyline. One of them is the famous Michel-St. Michaelis, a Hamburg landmark.

Southampton Attractions
Visit the Southampton Maritime Museum, which chronicles the history of Southampton and its significant role as a port for ocean liners, the most famous being the Titanic. Not to be missed is the exhibit "Titanic Voices," where visitors can hear the story of the tragic voyage in the words of survivors and those touched by the tragedy.

The Outer Hebrides lie like a protective arc off the northern coast of Scotland, mountainous islands with dramatic seacapes and far more sheep than people. Stornoway, with its huge fishing harbor, is the capital of the Lewis and Harris islands, famous for its rugged fishermen and the tweed which bears its name. Stroll through the beautiful grounds of Lews Castle which dominates the town. Or visit the Standing Stones of Callanish, a 40-foot prehistoric circle of stones often compared to Stonehenge.
Stornoway Attractions
holiday to the Islands would, therefore, not be complete without a detailed lecture and a guided tour of history of Harris Tweed, with demonstrations of looms, warping, waulking, spinning and carding.
Stornoway Activities
The local museum, Museum Nan Eilean, has been open since 1983 and focuses on aspects of history and day to day lives of the communities of Lewis and Harris from the time of the first human settlement on the islands perhaps as early as 5000 years ago until most recent times
The town also has its own art gallery. Exhibitions here vary from photographic, sculptures and cultural and many events are organised to cater for heritage interpretation
The Lews Castle Grounds has an abundance of trees and bushes and designated walks are marked out to highlight the main features found in the grounds - shoreline, woodland, river and open moorland. Excellent vantage point for terrific views of the town and the surrounding area
Akureyri were the sandbanks that projected into the harbour; in earlier times there were no fewer than five of those. Four have now disappeared, however, owing to the diligence of the Akureyri people in reclaiming land from the sea. The northernmost one, Oddeyri Point, is still in place, though, and a clear landmark in the town. It was in the inner harbour, in the safe shelter of Oddeyri Point, that the merchants of earlier times preferred have their ships lie at anchor. And the harbour depth allowed the largest vessels to anchor in close proximity to the shoreline so that a fully laden rowing boat would reach land within a few minutes.
Akureyri Activities
Laxadulshus, the town's oldest residence dates from 1795 and houses a fascinating display on the town's history and a pleasant cafe
The many churches are a source of interest. Logmannshlio church more than rewards the climb, while Akureyrarkirkja boasts a splendid 3200-pipe organ
The locals are proud of the botanic gardens and you'll be amazed at the variety of flowers that are nurtured in these northern climes
Kjarnaskogur, within an hour of the town, is Iceland's most visited forest. Enjoy its extensive leisure facilities, its breathtaking walks and fantastic ski slopes. The town also boasts the world's most northerly golf course and hosts the annual Arctic Open
It has more than its share of museums, including a Natural History Museum, a folk museum, and museums set in the homes of native poet Matthias Jochumsson and children's book author Jon Sveinson
