There are bargains on just about everything in St. Thomas. In addition to excellent duty-free shopping, St. Thomas boasts some of the loveliest beaches in the Caribbean: Magens Bay, Sapphire Beach, and Coki Point.
St. Thomas Attractions
While the beaches and ocean are beautiful, there is one thing that really sets St. Thomas apart - shopping. Browse through the shop-lined streets of Charlotte Amalie and find out why St. Thomas is called the "duty-free shopping capital of the world." Shop for duty-free trinkets and bargains on everything from liquor to imported china and crystal. Visitors can bring home $1,200 in merchandise without paying duty - twice the limit of most of the Caribbean.
St. Thomas Activities
Take a ride on Skyline Drive and enjoy a breathtaking view of St. Thomas Harbor. Then travel to Mountain Top, the highest point on St. Thomas, and see spectacular views of Magens Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Check out Coral World Marine Park, where you can touch sea stars at the touch pool or explore the mystery of life in a mangrove lagoon off the Coastal Trail. Sit back and enjoy a relaxing half-day sail to Buck Island aboard a large sailing yacht, then snorkel in Turtle Cove. Submerge yourself in a sci-fi adventure. Trek around coral reefs and get up close and personal with the marine life on the Atlantis Submarine. Experience a bird's-eye view of the beauty of St. Thomas on an exciting helicopter adventure. Travel 700 feet above the sea via skyride to The Paradise Point and see the most fantastic vistas in the Caribbean.
The skyline of St. John's, the capital and largest city of Antigua and Barbuda, is dominated by the magnificently evocative white baroque towers of St. John's Cathedral. Built in 1845, the church is now in its third incarnation, as earthquakes in 1683 and in 1745 destroyed the previous structures. The towers are the first sight of Antigua for about half of the island's visitors each year, many of whom arrive by boat. With its recently completed cruise ship dock and several hotels, St. John's is a lively hub for shopping and dining.
St. John's Attractions
Discover Antigua's past at Nelson's Dockyard, a restored working dockyard. In this tropical Colonial Williamsburg, you can visit many of the original colonial buildings and get a real feel for the history of the place.
St. John's Activities
Sail aboard a catamaran and take in a few hours of breathtaking scenery. You'll depart for the northwest coast of Antigua to a specially selected anchorage, where you'll enjoy snorkeling and water skiing. Then move on to a beautiful sandy beach for more fun in the water.
Experience the rich history, unique culture and tropical flora of St. John's on an informative Antigua Island Tour.
Discover some of Antigua's most beautiful secret spots and small, uninhabited islands by kayak. You'll make a stop for a swim, and if you are quiet, you may spot the sea turtles, frigate birds, whistling ducks, endangered fallow deer and flying fish that inhabit the area.
Dominica's location is 15 degrees North latitude and 61 degrees West longitude. The island sits midway along the Eastern Caribbean archipelago, just a few miles from Martinique to the south and Guadeloupe to the north. Its official name is the Commonwealth of Dominica, which is mostly referenced in official communiqués and to distinguish the island from its northerly Caribbean sister, the Dominican Republic.
Known as "The Nature Island," Dominica's tropical rainforests cover two thirds of the island, and are home to 1,200 plant species. Rivers, lakes, streams, and waterfalls abound, fed by the island's high annual rainfall. Its volcanic physique points to extensive geothermal activity – even underwater. The Morne Trois Pitons National Park was the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in the eastern Caribbean.
The island is sparsely populated with 70,000 people inhabiting its 289 square miles. A significant portion of the population lives in and around the capital city of Roseau. About 80% of the population is Roman Catholic. English is the official language, spoken with a melodic French lilt, but a large portion of the population speaks Kwèyòl (Creole), and a few northern villages speak Kokoy.
Dominica Activities
A number of nature oriented activities are offered on the island, these include: Hiking, Trekking, River Bathing, Bird watching, Whale Watching, Scuba Diving, Botany Explorations.
The easternmost of the Caribbean islands, Barbados is also one of the most beautiful. Opt for one of the many tours available, such as the popular sojourn to tropical Andromeda Gardens. They are situated on a boulder-strewn hillside high above the sea, where ocean waters dramatically thunder against the giant rocks below. The beaches on the exclusive east coast are superb, and you may choose to head straight for one and spend the entire day relaxing. Of course, there is always shopping in Bridgetown.
Bridgetown Attractions
For the ultimate day of fun-in-the-sun Barbados-style, cruise on the MV Harbour to a spectacular sandy beach. Snorkel on reefs teeming with tropical fish. Enjoy the rope swing, sun tanning or walking on the beach. Cruise back along the scenic coast while dancing the calypso or limbo, or just relax on deck.
Bridgetown Activities
Climb into a comfortable safari-rigged Land Rover® and prepare yourself for adventure. Visit places inaccessible by tour bus, such as Gun Hill Signal Station, and go off-road through Joe's River Tropical Rain Forest.
Adventure is in the air and so is the smell of a thousand orchids on this fragrant tour of Orchid World and Fisherpond House.
Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and learn about island culture and history on a comprehensive island tour of Barbados.
An exquisite blend of Dutch and French cultures, St. Martin boasts stunning beaches, crystal clear waters, and incredible duty-free shopping. Whether you lunch at a charming French cafe or explore the lively Dutch capital of Philipsburg, you will find the dichotomy of St. Maarten perfectly charming.
Philipsburg Attractions
Compete in an actual race on an America's Cup shortened course. Grind a winch, trim a sail or just sit back and enjoy. Professional sailors will give you a quick lesson, then you're off to compete on Stars and Stripes, one of the most famous sailboats in the world.
Philipsburg Activities
Rendezvous at one of the newest and trendiest restaurants in French St. Maarten. Explore Orient Bay, the French Riviera of the Caribbean, with over 1 1/2 miles of white-sand beaches.
Admire the delicate nature and dazzling colors of hundreds of butterflies as you tour St. Maarten's popular Butterfly Farm.
Authentic Caribbean foods at Basseterre, and a peaceful setting virtually untouched by tourism are among St Kitts most enchanting features. For breathtaking views, visit Brimstone Hill Fort, an impressive construction atop Mt Liamuiga that is one of the wonders of the Caribbean.
Basseterre Attractions
Whether you're a history buff or just want to take in the scenery, be sure to visit the 350-year-old estate, Romney Manor, once owned by a British earl. The beautiful grounds include magnificent gardens, exotic plants and an amazing African Saman tree, which covers half an acre and is believed to be as old as the estate itself.
Basseterre Activities
Explore Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park. Climb to the top of the main hill to take in amazing views of St. Eustatius and Sandy Point Town.
Walk through Independence Square. Now a small public park, it was built in 1790 for slave auctions and council meetings.
Visit St. George's Cathedral. While originally christened Notre Dame in 1670 by the French, it was destroyed more than once and was most recently rebuilt in 1869 in typical Georgian style.
One of the largest islands in the Eastern Caribbean, Puerto Rico's landscape encompasses mountains, underground caves, coral reefs, white-sand beaches and an incredibly massive rain forest that supplies fresh water to most of the island. At the same time San Juan, the capital of the commonwealth, is a big city with a bustling business district, glitzy resorts and casinos, as well as one of the most stunning examples of colonial life in the Western world.
San Juan Attractions
When you're in San Juan, don't miss the opportunity to witness the pinnacle of natural beauty by exploring Puerto Rico's El Yunque Rain Forest. It features more than 240 species of trees, hundreds of miniature orchids, and what was once believed to be the Fountain of Youth.
San Juan Activities
See Baño Grande, a natural swimming pool. Then take a walk on Camitillo Trail and look for the artificial nest of the Puerto Rican parrot and the flora and fauna of the Palo Colorado forest
Explore Old San Juan, the second-oldest European settlement in the New World. Ride to San Felipe El Morro, the most dramatic of all the city's military fortifications. Visit the Casa Blanca Museum & Gardens, the Ballaja Barracks, Quincentennial Square, San Jose Church, San Juan Cathedral, and Cristo Chapel
