Heritage House - Formerly an ethnographic museum, this restored Heritage Museum, was built in 1935 and offers the best view of the badghir (wind tower). The small town of Khasab is situated on the northern tip of Oman's Musandem Peninsula, separated from the mainland by the United Arab Emirates. The striking scenery of this rarely visited peninsula is marked by dramatic mountain ranges. This region along the Strait of Hormuz is responsible for approximately 25 percent of the world's oil production. During the 16th century, the Portuguese settled here, leaving behind small fortresses, which were taken over by the Persians.
