1	Sunday, 1/31/27	About Victoria Victoria is a town and capital of the Republic of Seychelles, located on the northeastern coast of Mah� Island, the largest island in the Seychelles group. Victoria is the only port of the archipelago and the only town of any size in Seychelles. Some one-third of the people of Mah� Island live in Victoria. The port has deep water for large ships and is capable of accommodating several vessels at one time. An inner harbor provides facilities for smaller craft. An international airport was built near Victoria in 1971, subsidized by British funds in compensation for the temporary removal of certain islands from Seychelles hegemony. As the business and cultural center for the country, the town has modern facilities including a hospital and a teacher-training college. 2	Monday, 2/1/27	About La Digue The peaceful seclusion, of green hills and gorgeous beaches make La Digue one of the favorite islands in the Seychelles. The estate of l´Union with its fine, old house and large granitic boulders is one of the few remaining vanilla plantations left in the islands. La Digue is also home to the paradise flycatcher, a rare species found nowhere else in the world. La Digue Activities Explore the 4 square mile island and experience the fascinating, unspoiled world of enormous granite boulders, roads shaded by ancient giant trees and glorious beaches in secluded coves. René Payet Reserve - This nature reserve harbors the black paradise flycatcher, a most rare and beautiful bird that was believed for a time to be extinct. Anse Union - Apart from some small guest houses, La Digue Island Lodge is the island’s main hotel. The finest beach for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving is the long western beach of Anse Union, which is guarded by a splendid coral reef. L’Union Estate - This estate features coconut and vanilla plantations with a copra factory on the grounds as well as an imposing timber-and-thatch plantation-style house. 11	Wednesday, 2/10/27	About Nosy Bé Nosy Bé, meaning Big Island in the Malagasy language, lies just a stone's throw off Madagascar's northwest coast. It is a remote and exotic destination. With its deserted beaches, rustic hotels and unhurried pace, it attracts travelers looking for a laid-back vacation. The fertile island is the center for the production of perfume essence from the ylang-ylang trees. The heady scent of their flowers gave Nosy Bé the name "Perfumed Isle." Other local products include sugar cane, coffee, vanilla and pepper; they are grown for export in large plantations. Hellville, the island's main town and port, is situated in a sheltered bay. It is named after a former French governor, Admiral de Hell. The town features a few old colonial buildings, a busy market, some small boutiques and tourist shops along the busy main street. At the quayside, vendors display embroidered linens, wood carvings and straw articles. Nosy Bé Attractions Trips into the lush countryside may include a ride up to Mt. Passot. At 950 feet, this is the highest point on the island. The view from the top offers an extensive panorama of crater lakes nestled between verdant hills. Most visitors make the boat trip to Nosy Komba. The tiny island is known for its lemur reserve. These arboreal primates, with their large eyes, soft fur and long curling tails, have lived unharmed for centuries in the forest behind Ampangorina village. The lemurs are a popular tourist attraction and a profitable source of income to the small local community. Palm-ringed sand beaches and quaint hotels offer lazy hours of swimming and sunning.
