In addition, Helsingborg was one of the more important towns in the Danish kingdom. However, in the 16th century when the construction of the Kronborg Royal Palace began, Kärnan lost some of its importance until a hundred years later when the wars between Sweden and Denmark broke out. "Jordbodalen" is a small zoo, housing our most common animals. Next to this little park you have ''Sundspärlan'', Helsingborg's leisure park. An exciting place for the children is ''Tropikariet''. Here they can watch different kinds of snakes, crocodiles, sharks and lizards in the warm tropical climate.
